About CPA Dr. James Okello Onyoin
James Okello Onyoin is a Co-founder of Vision Africa AI and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Fellow of the Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA), Professional Certified Coach (PCC), Project Management Practitioner and Public Financial Management (PFM) & Governance Expert with more than 25 years’ experience in International Development, covering over 10 countries. He is a Board Member for Eskom Uganda Ltd and Chair Audit and Risk Committee. He is Board Member Citibank Uganda Ltd and Chair Board Audit Committee. He is Co-founder and Board Member for the League of East African Directors (LEAD). James is Co-founder and Managing Partner at HLB JIM ROBERTS, Certified Public Accountants and CEO of Jim Roberts Consulting Ltd.
James is a Board member for CEO Summit Uganda and Chair Audit Committee. He is a Committee Member of the Parliamentary Commission Audit Committee, Parliament of Uganda and UAP Old Mutual Insurance Company Limited. James is Co-founder and Board Chair for the Kampala AI Centre. He is also an adjunct faculty member, Strathmore University Business School, Nairobi, Kenya. James obtained a Doctorate of Corporate Governance and Leadership from the Commonwealth University and the London Graduate School.
James previously held senior management positions at Tropical Bank, Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), Ernst & Young (EY), KPMG, PwC, Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development and the Ministry of Local Government in Uganda and Ministry of Finance and Development Planning in Liberia. He has carried out PFM assignments for a number of international organizations including IMF, World Bank, EU, DFID, USAID, and UNDP. James has been involved in public sector reform programmes in Uganda, Liberia, The Gambia, Ethiopia, Zanzibar (Tanzania), Lesotho, Sudan, Kenya, South Sudan and South Africa.
James has a passion for developing leaders and has been at the forefront of leadership development for Senior Executives in the East African region, and internationally.
